The Cut Of Men’s Suits- Men’s Suits Cut, Style, And Choices
There are three basic cuts from which to choose when purchasing men’s suits, and the type you choose will depend largely on your body type. After the cut, your next decision will be the style and options. The common type is always to choose a single breasted suit with two to three buttons. Double breasted suits look nice when done right, but can be tricky on some body types. As far as button placement goes, lean toward a lower placement if you are tall or lean and a slightly higher placement if you are shorter or heavier.
With regard to the trousers, cuffs are an excellent way to improve the way the fabric hangs on your body as it adds just the tiniest bit of weight at the bottom. If you are not very short you should be well with an inch or less cuff. If so, forego the cuffs altogether lest you appear even shorter. Pleats are good for the stockier man; not so much for the lean.
Finally, you will have to decide on a color and pattern. Traditional colors are best to start off. These colors include navy, black and grey. You can experiment with other tones later once you have become comfortable with how to buy and wear men’s suits. The two options you have is solid color and a bit of pin striping. With pin stripes you will be wearing something that is commonly made as complicated as the demands of your official duties are. As far as vests go, yes they look great, but they are generally reserved for the most professional of settings, so don’t go all out with them just yet.
