Personalized Emails Generate 43 Percent More Clickthroughs Than Generic Messages
Using email for marketing can save you money and generate new business, even in these times of unsolicited mail. Reports show sales can still be had from email marketing, even though spam has grown.
Epsilon published survey results showing that almost 85 percent of email receivers actually clicked through a link for more info, if the original message seemed relevant to them personally. Email campaigns generated sales to more than 70 percent of those who were surveyed. Around half of those surveyed sent emails with marketing info to others in their address book. So email referrals could even be a great source of mlm leads.
Personally addressed emails get higher reponse rates; include first names in the body of the email more than once and in the subject line. Research has shown that by addressing an individual by name brings 43 percent higher clicks, 400 times the sales and almost 40 percent less drop outs than without addressing the person by name. If you are using mlm software to contact leads, program it to personaly address each receiver.
To insure optimal readership, tell receivers why you are emailing them and tell them as soon as possible in your message. Brief emails are better and emails that get to the point are even better. For example, you might be sending news about a sale or discounts for a webinar. Make your explanation for why you are sending the email clear and concise. People who may remember a previous interaction should be briefly reminded about you.
If someone isn't on your list or has not given their permission, don't email them your marketing messages. After a person opts out, don't contact them again. Be sure to include a "remove me from your list" link somewhere near the end of your email. Whatever you do, avoid getting branded as a spam emailer. Almost everyone dislikes spam to the point of hatred for the sender. Avoid heavy fines or prison terms; do not violate the CanSpam Act.
A spammer is like someone who stands on a street corner, hands you an ad circular, and then kicks you in the shins. Anonymous
Recommended Practices for Email Campaigns
We receive a smaller amount of emails after 12 noon, so we notice those we get in the afternoon more.
A message that can be read from a single frame on your screen is more likely to get read. Put a link in your message that takes readers to a web page with more text.
Stop sending emails with image attachments; they trigger spam filters. Most ISPs filter emails from strangers that contain attached files.
Programming your message to arrive on a Friday may increase your sales, says one report.
Many marketers neglect to include an email signature at the bottom of each email; leaving money on the table. Think of an email signature as free ad space. Think of email signatures like postscripts of a letter.S. of a letterand they often get read more than the rest of your email message

5 Reasons Google Is Sweating Apple (fastcompany)
Siri is only the beginning. By drawing together a few recent insights about
Google's moves and Apple's innovations, one might wonder if Google is afraid
of falling behind its rival--for good.
Steve Jobs, we now know, wanted to go "thermonuclear" on Google for perceived
design thefts. Google, in the post-Jobs era, is doing nothing to cool the
heated rivalry between the two firms. By drawing together a few recent
insights about Google's moves and Apple's innovations, one might wonder if
Google is afraid of falling behind its rival--for good.
Let us count the ways this could happen:
**1. Siri**
The Google-Apple rivalry was highlighted when Google's Eric Schmidt testified
to the Senate antitrust committee on Friday. Attempting to allay suspicions
that Google's control over the search market is monopolistic, monolithic, and
quashing competition, Schmidt's written statement said "Apple has launched an
entirely new approach to search technology with Siri, its voice-activated
search and task-completion service built into the iPhone 4S."
That's something we've noticed before: Siri is powerful for Apple in the
search market in three ways--it acts as a first-sift on top of search activity
that its iOS users are up to, meaning Apple gets access to ...
